Embroidery file converter — image & format conversion online

Stichii is a browser-based embroidery file converter and digitizer. Two things people mean by "convert" — turning artwork into stitches, and turning one machine format into another — Stichii does both, with full editing in between.

Convert an image to embroidery

A PNG, JPG, or SVG is a picture, not a stitch file — it has to be digitized before a machine can sew it. Stichii auto-digitizes your artwork into editable fill, satin, and run objects, fits curves, and detects separate color regions. Then you refine and export. This is the real work of "image to PES" or "PNG to embroidery" — actual digitizing, not a fake rename.

  • SVG to embroidery (PES, DST, JEF, EXP, VP3).
  • PNG and JPG to embroidery via auto-digitize.
  • Edit every stitch — density, angle, underlay, color order — before export.

Convert between machine formats

Already have a design in one format and need another? Import a PES or DST into Stichii, then export it to any supported format. Because you can edit in between, you can also fix density, re-order colors, or re-hoop while you are at it.

Every file Stichii writes is validated against pyembroidery — the same reference library used by Ink/Stitch and other open-source embroidery tools — so the stitches, jumps, trims, and color stops land where your machine expects them.

  • PES converter (Brother / Babylock).
  • DST converter (Tajima / commercial).
  • JEF converter (Janome).
  • EXP converter (Melco / Bernina).
  • VP3 converter (Pfaff / Husqvarna Viking).

Browser-based, free to start

Stichii runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to install, no Windows-only desktop suite, and no four-figure license. Open it on a laptop, a Surface, or an iPad next to the machine and start working immediately.

You can start for free. Open the editor, digitize a design, and preview the stitch path before you commit to anything. Paid plans add more exports and higher limits — see pricing for the details.

Frequently asked questions

Can I just rename an image to .pes or .dst?
No. An embroidery file is ordered stitch data, not a picture. The image must be digitized into stitch paths first — that is what Stichii does, automatically and then with manual editing.
What formats can Stichii convert to?
PES, DST, JEF, EXP, and VP3 are the primary machine formats, plus SVG and others. You can import PES and DST to edit and re-export.
Is the converter really free?
You can digitize, preview, and edit for free. Exports depend on your plan — see pricing.
How good is the auto-conversion?
Auto-digitize gives a strong first pass on clean, high-contrast artwork. Complex photos benefit from manual cleanup, which the editor is built for.
