Is Stichii really completely browser-based?

Yes — entirely. Stichii runs in any modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) with no plugins to install. Your designs are computed and rendered right in the browser with JavaScript and Canvas 2D. The only server-side work is optional cloud sync, auto-digitize for large images, and the community library.

How does the free plan compare to paid plans?

The Free plan lets you create 2 designs and export 2 machine files (lifetime) with the core stitch types, unlimited SVG previews, and full access to browse the community library. Basic ($4/mo) gives unlimited designs and 10 exports a month, full-quality auto-digitize, and the ability to publish to the community. Pro ($19/mo) adds the full pro toolset (manual digitizing, custom-pattern studio, multi-hoop) and 100 exports a month. Studio ($49/mo) is unlimited exports plus a commercial-use license.

What machine formats can I export?

Stichii exports to Brother PES, Tajima DST, Janome JEF, Melco/Bernina EXP, and Pfaff/Viking VP3, plus XXX, U01, PEC, G-code, a CSV stitch list, and SVG. Every format is written with proper stitch sequencing, colour-stop commands, and trims. Each one has been validated end-to-end against pyembroidery, the reference embroidery library.

Can I import existing embroidery files?

Yes — PES and DST files import as editable stitch paths you can re-parameterize and re-export, and native .sse project files round-trip fully. You can also import an image (PNG/JPG) or SVG to auto-digitize into editable objects.

How does auto-digitize work?

When you upload an image, Stichii separates colours in perceptual (CIEDE2000/LAB) colour space — the same science used for industrial colour matching — segments regions, rejects drop-shadows, and matches each shape to a stitch type: keylines and lettering become clean satin columns, large panels become tatami fill, thin lines become run stitches. Every colour is matched to a real Madeira or Isacord thread with its order code. You get fully-editable embroidery objects to fine-tune. It is automatic image analysis, not a stock-art lookup — your artwork stays yours.

What is the community library?

A public, browsable catalogue of designs other stitchers have published. Anyone can browse and search it for free. Open a design and it forks a private copy into your editor (the original is never changed); save designs to your collection; like and report; and — on a paid plan — publish your own with a licence you choose. Every shared design shows a rendered preview, its licence, and credit to the maker.

Is my design data safe?

Connections are encrypted with HTTPS, and your private designs are stored in private object storage — only you can access them. Free-plan work stays in your own browser unless you choose to sync or publish. We never sell your designs. (A formal, lawyer-reviewed privacy policy is published on the Privacy page.)

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes — cancel from your account settings whenever you like. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and your designs remain accessible on the Free plan afterwards.

Does Stichii work on tablets and iPads?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The editor is responsive and works on iPad and Android tablets with touch or a stylus; a mouse on the desktop is the most precise for detailed digitizing. Browsing the community library works great on a phone too.
